units of the State Government in one of the principal
departments of the Executive Branch; and

WHEREAS, Article 41, Section 15C of the Annotated Code of
Maryland authorizes the Governor to assign nonstatutory
units of the State government and programs to the
appropriate principal department of the Executive
Branch; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Board of Public Works are in
unanimous agreement that, in the interest of
governmental efficiency, it is desirable to assign the
General Administration Program of the Board of Public
Works to the Department of Budget and Fiscal Planning,
a principal department of the State Government;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, HARRY HUGHES, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF
MARYLAND, BY VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY
THE CONSTITUTION AND LAWS OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND,
HEREBY ISSUE THE FOLLOWING EXECUTIVE ORDER:

1.  The General Administration Program of the
Board of Public Works, a nonstatutory unit of the
State Government and program, is hereby assigned
to the Department of Budget and Fiscal Planning.
Any funds appropriated to the Board of Public
Works for the purpose of financing the Board of
Public Works General Administration Program shall
be transferred to the Department of Budget and
Fiscal Planning by approved budget amendment.

2.  The assignment of the General Administration
Program of the Board of Public Works to the
Department of Budget and Fiscal Planning shall
take effect immediately, and the transfer to the
Department of Budget and Fiscal Planning of the
funds appropriated to the Board of Public Works
for the purpose of financing the Board of Public
Works General Administration Program shall become
effective as provided in an approved budget
amendment.
