Pensions - Service Credit - Municipal Corporation
FOR the purpose of altering the requirements for a member of
the Employees' Retirement System to be entitled to
credit for previous service rendered as a full-time
paid employee of a municipal corporation of this State;
and making stylistic changes.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:
Article 73B - Pensions
9.
[(12) An employee of the State, who is or becomes a
member of the Employees' Retirement System and who at any
previous time served as a full-time paid employee of a
municipal corporation of this State and who is not entitled
to receive service credit for the same period under any
other provision of this article, or who is not receiving
retirement benefits from any political subdivision or
municipal corporation of this State, shall be entitled in
the year in which he retires to credit for previous service
rendered by him to the municipal corporation upon the
payment by him or the municipal corporation or a combination
of both of an amount equal to the reserves required to fund
the previous service.]
(12) IN THE YEAR THAT A MEMBER RETIRES, THE MEMBER IS
ENTITLED TO CREDIT FOR ANY PREVIOUS SERVICE RENDERED BY THE
MEMBER AS A FULL-TIME PAID EMPLOYEE OF A MUNICIPAL
CORPORATION OF THIS STATE IF:
(A) THE EMPLOYEE IS NOT ENTITLED TO RECEIVE
SERVICE CREDIT FOR THE SAME PERIOD UNDER ANY OTHER PROVISION
OF THIS ARTICLE;
