SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

(H) A DISTRICT COURT COMMISSIONER MAY NOT ESTABLISH
CONDITIONS OF PRETRIAL RELEASE FOR AN INDIVIDUAL CHARGED
WITH ESCAPING FROM A PENITENTIARY, JAIL, HOUSE OF
CORRECTION, REFORMATORY, STATION HOUSE, OR ANY OTHER PLACE
OF CONFINEMENT IN THIS STATE.

Departments

30.

Unless the offense with which the prisoner is charged
is shown to be an offense punishable by death or life
imprisonment under the laws of the state in which it was
committed, a judge [or District Court commissioner] in this
State may admit the person arrested to bail by bond, with
sufficient sureties, and in such sum as he deems proper,
conditioned for his appearance before him at a time
specified in such bond, and for his surrender, to be
arrested upon the warrant of the Governor of this State.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

AN ACT concerning

Corporations - Filing Fees

FOR the purpose of providing that counties and Baltimore
City are exempt from the fee required for acceptance of
service of process or notice on the State Department of
Assessments and Taxation.
