LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 888

WHEREAS, the Lida Lee Tall School is being continued in
order to serve as a learning resource center; and

WHEREAS, the State does not have a learning resource
center independent of an institution of higher education;
and

THEREFORE, the Lida Lee Tall Learning Resource Center
is placed at the outset, under the Education Coordinating
Committee, and the General Assembly expects a review which
will propose a permanent governance structure by January 1,
1984; now, therefore,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article - Education

5-202.

(a) (7) (i) All students enrolled in grades 1 through
12 or their equivalent in regular day school programs on
September 30 of the previous school year and [in Baltimore
County] includes the students in the Lida Lee Tall [School
of Towson State University;] LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER;

(b) (5) [Of the Baltimore County share of the State
basic current expense, Baltimore County shall pay to Lida
Lee Tall School of Towson State University the percentage of
the State basic current expense obtained by dividing the
number of students in Lida Lee Tall School by the total
number of students enrolled in Baltimore County and the Lida
Lee Tall School.]

FOR EACH STUDENT WHO ATTENDS THE LIDA LEE TALL LEARNING
RESOURCE CENTER THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PAY THE LIDA LEE TALL
LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER THE STATE SHARE OF BASIC CURRENT
EXPENSES THAT OTHERWISE WOULD BE PAID TO THAT STUDENT'S
COUNTY BOARD OR THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE, IF
THE STUDENT WERE ENROLLED IN REGULAR PUBLIC SCHOOL.

24-106.

(A) THERE IS A SYSTEM OF LEARNING RESOURCE CENTERS IN

THE STATE UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE EDUCATION

COORDINATING COMMITTEE.

(B) EXCEPT AS REQUIRED BY LAW, THE ESTABLISHMENT AND
LOCATION OF LEARNING RESOURCE CENTERS SHALL BE AT THE
DISCRETION OF THE EDUCATION COORDINATING COMMITTEE.

(C) THE PURPOSE OF LEARNING RESOURCE CENTERS IS TO
PROVIDE AN ACCESSIBLE LABORATORY ENVIRONMENT FOR:
