SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

(House Bill 908)

AN ACT concerning

Special Taxing Districts

FOR the purpose of creating a definition of a special taxing
district and an official of a special taxing district;
providing a certain immunity from suit to officials of
a special taxing district certain special taxing
districts under certain circumstances; creating a
certain exception in cases involving the use of a motor
vehicle; providing that a special taxing district
certain special taxing districts shall provide a
defense for an official under certain circumstances;
authorizing a special taxing district certain special
taxing districts to expend revenues for certain
purposes; defining certain terms; and generally
relating to the immunity of officials of a special
taxing district certain special taxing districts.

Preamble

House Bill 1132 of 1980 created the Advisory Board on
Liability to examine the potential liability of special
taxing districts and their officials created by State,
county, or municipal governments, and the potential
liability of civic organizations and their officials acting
as governing bodies of special taxing districts. The bill
was enacted as Chapter 884 of the 1980 Laws of Maryland, and
is located in Maryland Annotated Code, Article 41, Section
511, et. seq. With the passage of House Bill 763 of 1981
the existence of the Advisory Board was extended for an
additional year. The bill was enacted as Chapter 393 of the
1981 Laws of Maryland.
