WHEREAS, There is adequate precedent in Maryland for
State payment of the cost of conducting a special election
to fill a congressional vacancy (e.g. Chapters 2 and 35 of
the Acts of the General Assembly of 1971); now, therefore,
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Board of Public Works shall pay the
governing body of Prince George's County an amount not to
exceed $160,000, and the governing body of Montgomery County
an amount not to exceed $20,000, as reimbursement for the
costs of conducting the special primary election and special
election in the Fifth Congressional District during 1981.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the payment
payments specified in Section 1 shall be from funds provided
for that purpose and that the Board of Public Works shall
review or have reviewed the amount amounts requested for
reimbursement.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1982.

AN ACT concerning
Motor Vehicle Excise Tax - Fair Market Value
Vehicle Laws - Excise Tax
FOR the purpose of clarifying the definition of the "fair
market value" of certain used vehicles with respect to
computing a certain vehicle excise tax; and clarifying
language redefining "fair market value" and "total
purchase price" as used in assessing the motor vehicle
titling excise tax.
