Ch. 21

SUBJECT TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL OF THE DIRECTOR
OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THE OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT
SECRETARY FOR MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTIONS, THE
ADMINISTRATION:

(1)  EITHER ALONE OR WITH OTHER PUBLIC OR PRIVATE
AGENCIES, SHALL PROVIDE EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN THE
PREVENTION, DIAGNOSIS, TREATMENT, REHABILITATION, AND
CONTROL OF DRUG ABUSE FOR MEDICAL STUDENTS, PHYSICIANS,
NURSES, SOCIAL WORKERS, AND OTHER INDIVIDUALS WITH
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR DRUG ABUSERS; AND

(2)  TO PROMOTE PUBLIC UNDERSTANDING, INTEREST,
AND SUPPORT, SHALL PROVIDE PUBLIC EDUCATION ON THE NATURE
AND RESULTS OF DRUG ABUSE AND ON THE POSSIBILITIES OF
PREVENTION AND REHABILITATION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Article
43B, § 5(d) and (e).

The introductory phrase of this section,
"{s}ubject to the administrative control of the
Director of Education and Training in the office
of the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and
Addictions," is new language added to reflect §
2-103(c)(5) of this article, which requires the
Director of Education and Training to administer
drug abuse educational and training programs.

As to other duties of the Director of Education
and Training, see §§ 2-103(c) and 8-205 of this
article.

9-206. INFORMATION AND RECORDS ON DRUG ABUSE.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

THE ADMINISTRATION SHALL GATHER INFORMATION AND KEEP
STATISTICAL AND OTHER RECORDS ON DRUG ABUSERS AND DRUG ABUSE
IN THIS STATE.

(B)  REQUIRED REPORTS.

EACH PERSON WHO IS AUTHORIZED TO ADMINISTER, USE
PROFESSIONALLY, OR DISPENSE A DRUG AND EACH PUBLIC OFFICIAL
WHO HAS DUTIES WITH RESPECT TO DRUGS OR TO USERS OF THEM
SHALL REPORT TO THE ADMINISTRATION ANY RELEVANT INFORMATION
THAT THE ADMINISTRATION REQUIRES.
