LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 21

(2) INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING FACILITIES:

(I)  DETOXIFICATION CENTERS THAT:

1.   PROVIDE TO INTOXICATED
INDIVIDUALS APPROPRIATE MEDICAL OR     PARAMEDICAL SERVICES,
INCLUDING INITIAL EXAMINATION, DIAGNOSIS, AND
CLASSIFICATION;

2.   ARE OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY;

3.   ARE LOCATED NEAR POPULATION
CENTERS SO AS TO BE ACCESSIBLE; AND

4.   ALTHOUGH NOT NECESSARILY
PHYSICALLY A PART OF A GENERAL HOSPITAL, TO THE EXTENT
POSSIBLE, ARE AFFILIATED WITH A GENERAL HOSPITAL AND AN
INTEGRAL PART OF ITS GENERAL MEDICAL SERVICES;

(II)   INPATIENT EXTENDED CARE FACILITIES

THAT:

1.   PROVIDE INTENSIVE STUDY,
TREATMENT, AND REHABILITATION OF CHRONIC ALCOHOLICS; AND

2.   ARE NOT A PART OF A CORRECTIONAL
INSTITUTION; AND

(III)  OUTPATIENT AFTERCARE FACILITIES,
INCLUDING:

1.   CLINICS;

2.   SOCIAL CENTERS;

3.   VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION
SERVICES;

4.  WELFARE CENTERS; AND

5.   SUPPORTIVE RESIDENTIAL
FACILITIES, SUCH AS HOSTELS AND HALFWAY HOUSES.

(B)  DISCRIMINATION PROHIBITED.

AN INDIVIDUAL MAY NOT BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST BASED ON
AN INABILITY TO PAY FOR SERVICES UNDER THE STATE PROGRAM.

(C)   STAFF.

THE STATE PROGRAM AND STATE FACILITIES SHALL HAVE AN
ADEQUATE NUMBER OF QUALIFIED STAFF.
