Ch. 767

(1)  ENTER ON A PUBLIC ROADWAY AS PROVIDED IN §
10-101 OF THIS ARTICLE WITHOUT THE RECEIPT OF A PERMIT FROM
OR PAYMENT OF A FEE TO ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY;

(2)  ACQUIRE PROPERTY IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY IN
THE SAME WAY AS PROVIDED FOR ACQUIRING PROPERTY IN PRINCE
GEORGE'S COUNTY IN TITLE 2 OF THIS ARTICLE; AND

(3)  ADOPT RULES AND REGULATIONS.

COMMITTEE NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive changes from former Article
67, §§ 14-2, 14-3, and 14-4.

Also, this section cross-references similar
provisions of other titles of this article that
give the WSSC the same powers in other areas.

[14-5] 14-103. Tampering with, etc., system.

[It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation, to] EXCEPT AS THE WSSC ALLOWS IN ITS RULES AND
REGULATIONS, A PERSON MAY NOT use, handle, tamper with,
obstruct, interfere with, deface, or destroy any portion of
the [Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission] WSSC system
[authorized to be] constructed under this [subtitle] TITLE,
including pipes, fittings, fireplugs, pumps, engines,
appliances, wires, or other fixtures or equipment [except
under such rules and regulations as the commission may
adopt].

[14-6. Same -- Violations and penalties.

Any violation of the provisions of section 14-5 is
hereby declared to be a misdemeanor and shall be punishable
before any justice of the peace or the circuit court of the
county in which such offense is committed, and any persons
adjudged guilty thereof shall be subject to a fine riot
exceeding one hundred dollars or thirty days in the county
jail or both in the discretion of the court.]

COMMITTEE NOTE: Former Article 67, § 14-6 is combined
with the other penalty provisions in the general
penalty sections of Title 18.

[14-7. Powers conferred by title additional.

The powers conferred upon the Washington Suburban
Sanitary Commission under this subtitle are intended to be
in addition to, and not in substitution for, any power
heretofore conferred by law upon it.]

COMMITTEE NOTE: Former Article 67, § 14-7, which
related to certain additional powers of the WSSC,
is deleted as unnecessary in light of the
statement of the WSSC's power in this title.
