Board of Examiners in Optometry - Term of Office

FOR the purpose of altering the terms of the members of the
Board of Examiners in Optometry; and generally relating
to the appointment of those members.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Health Occupations
Section 10-202(f)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1981 Volume and 1981 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

Article - Health Occupations

10-202.

(f) (1) The term of a member is [4] 5 years.

(2)  The terms of members are staggered as
required by the terms provided for members of the Board on
July 1, [1981] 1982.

(3)  At the end of a term, a member continues to
serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies.

(4)  A member who is appointed after a term has
begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a
successor is appointed and qualifies.

SECTION 2. AMD BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the terms
of the present members expire as follows:

(1)  The terms of the 2 optometrist members
appointed on June 1, 1979 expire on May 31, 1983.

(2)  The term of the consumer member appointed on
June 1, 1980 expires on June 30, 1984.

(3)  The terms of the 3 optometrist members
appointed on June 1, 1981 expire on May 31, 1985.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the terms
of the present members shall be as follows:

(1) The term of 1 member appointed on June 1,
1979 shall expire on June 1, 1982.
