SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:
Article - Education
SUBTITLE 13. TUITION WAIVERS FOR SENIOR CITIZENS
18-1301.
(A) (1) IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
MEANINGS INDICATED.
(2) "SENIOR CITIZEN" MEANS ANY RESIDENT OF THIS
STATE WHO IS 60 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER, OR WHO IS RETIRED
AND/OR DISABLED AS DEFINED BY THE SOCIAL SECURITY OR
RAILROAD RETIREMENT ACT.
(3) "INSTITUTION" MEANS ANY PUBLIC COLLEGE OR
UNIVERSITY IN THIS STATE CERTIFIED BY THE STATE BOARD FOR
HIGHER EDUCATION.
(4) "TUITION" MEANS THE BASIC INSTRUCTIONAL
CHARGE AND DOES NOT INCLUDE FEES, SUCH AS THOSE FOR
REGISTRATION, APPLICATION, OR LABORATORY WORK.
(B) AN INSTITUTION SHALL ADMIT A SENIOR CITIZEN TO ANY
SCHEDULED SESSION AND WAIVE THE TUITION INVOLVED.
(1) AFTER THE REGISTRATION PERIOD HAS BEEN
COMPLETED;
(2) ONLY WHEN REGULARLY SCHEDULED COURSE SPACE
IS AVAILABLE;
(3) FOR ANY CREDIT OR NONCREDIT COURSE, AND
(4) FOR AS MANY AS 3 COURSES PER TERM.
(C) AT THE TERMINATION OF EACH REGISTRATION PERIOD,
THE INSTITUTION SHALL FURNISH TO THE STATE BOARD FOR HIGHER
