SUBTITLE 2. MENTAL RETARDATION ADMINISTRATION.

7-201. ADMINISTRATION ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS A MENTAL RETARDATION ADMINISTRATION IN THE
DEPARTMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the second clause
of former Article 59A, § 4(a) and rephrased in
the standard language for creation of a unit.

It is set forth as a separate section for
emphasis.

Defined term: "Department" § 1-101

7-202. DIRECTOR.

(A)  POSITION AND APPOINTMENT.

THE HEAD OF THE ADMINISTRATION IS THE DIRECTOR, WHO
SHALL BE APPOINTED BY THE SECRETARY.

(B)  RESPONSIBILITY TO SECRETARY.

THE DIRECTOR SERVES AT THE PLEASURE OF THE SECRETARY.

(C)  QUALIFICATIONS.

THE DIRECTOR SHALL BE AN INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS
DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCE IN THE FIELD OF MENTAL RETARDATION
AND ITS ADMINISTRATION.

(D)  SALARY.

THE DIRECTOR IS ENTITLED TO THE SALARY PROVIDED IN THE
STATE BUDGET.
