19-703.

(C) HEALTH MAINTENANCE ORGANIZATIONS SHALL OFFER AS AN
OPTION TO ALL OF ITS MEMBERS OR SUBSCRIBERS COVERAGE FOR
BENEFITS FOR HOSPICE SERVICES PROVIDED BY A HOSPICE CARE
FACILITY PROGRAM, AS DEFINED IN § 19-901(C) OF THIS TITLE.

19-901.

(a)  In this subtitle the following words have the
meanings indicated.

(b) "Hospice care facility" means a facility that:

(1) Is not part of another facility;

(2) Under an organized, medically directed,

multiple discipline program for meeting the special

physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and economic needs
of dying individuals and their families, provides palliative
and supportive care during the illness and bereavement; and

(3) Admits at least 2 but not more than 8
individuals who:

(i) Are unrelated; and

(ii) Have no reasonable prospect of a
cure; and

(iii) Are expected to die within 6 months.

(b)  "Hospice" means a facility that:

(1) PROVIDES A HOSPICE CARE PROGRAM; AND

[1] (2) Is separate from any other facility; and

(3) Admits at least 2 but not more than 8
individuals who:

(i) Are unrelated; and

(ii) Have no reasonable prospect of a
cure; and

(iii) Are expected to die within 6 months.
