AN ACT concerning
Aircraft Liability Insurance - Requirements
FOR the purpose of providing that an aircraft owner may not
permit operation of the aircraft unless there is
certain liability insurance on that aircraft; and
providing that the insurance shall cover certain claims
altering the nature of the liability insurance required
for aircraft owners to operate their aircraft aircraft;
and defining a term.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:
Article - Transportation
5-1002.
(A) (1) FOR PURPOSES OF THIS SUBSECTION, "OPERATE"
SHALL INCLUDE ANY USE OF THE AIRCRAFT WHICH INVOLVES
REMUNERATION TO THE OWNER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO
LEASING, RENTAL, AND USE FOR INSTRUCTIONAL PURPOSES.
(a) (2) The owner of any aircraft based or hangared in
this State may not operate OR PERMIT OPERATION OF that
aircraft unless there is a liability insurance policy in
force on the aircraft covering claims WHICH COVERS THE OWNER
AND THE PILOT FOR CLAIMS by passengers or other persons for
any injuries to them or their property that might arise out
of the operation of the aircraft. THE POLICY SHALL COVER
CLAIMS AGAINST THE OWNER AND ALL PERMISSIVE USERS OF THE
AIRCRAFT.
