LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch. 21

(2) ARRANGE FOR USE OF THE LABORATORY "AND OTHER
EQUIPMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT, THE BALTIMORE CITY HEALTH
DEPARTMENT, THE MARYLAND STATE POLICE, OR THE BALTIMORE CITY
POLICE DEPARTMENT.

(F)  DUTY HOURS.

THE CHIEF MEDICAL EXAMINER, THE DEPUTY CHIEF MEDICAL
EXAMINER, OR AN ASSISTANT MEDICAL EXAMINER SHALL BE ON CALL
AT ALL TIMES TO PERFORM THE DUTIES SET FORTH IN THIS
SUBTITLE.

(G)  BUDGET.

THE STATE BUDGET SHALL INCLUDE AN APPROPRIATION TO
CARRY OUT THIS SUBTITLE, INCLUDING PROVISIONS FOR THE FEE
FOR AN AUTHORIZED PATHOLOGIST AND THE NECESSARY EXPENSES FOR
TRANSPORTATION OF A BODY FOR EXAMINATION BY A MEDICAL
EXAMINER OR FOR AUTOPSY.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsections (a) through (c) of this
section formerly appeared as Article 22, § 2(a)
and (c).

Subsections (d) through (f) of this section
formerly appeared as the second paragraph of
Article 22, § 5.

Subsection (g) of this section is new language
derived without substantive change from former
Article 22, § 2(b) and the sixth sentence of §
7(a), except as that sentence related to setting
the fee for an authorized pathologist.

In subsection (a)(1) of this section, the former
reference to "other professional or technical
personnel, clerks and other employees
necessary for the proper administration of the
Department" is deleted as unnecessary, in light
of the general power to employ staff and the use
of the word "include" in subsection (a)(2) of
this section.

In subsection (a)(2)(ii) of this section, the
reference to a "deputy chief medical examiner" is
substituted for the reference to an "assistant
deputy chief medical examiner", to conform to
practice.

In subsection (b) of this section, the defined
term "physician" is substituted for "licensed
doctors of medicine".
