4-332. CLEANING OF SOFT DRINK CONTAINERS.

(A)  SCOPE OF SECTION.

THIS SECTION APPLIES TO ANY CONTAINER THAT IS USED:

(1)  TO PACK A SOFT DRINK;

(2)  TO STORE A SOFT DRINK;

(3)  TO DISTRIBUTE A SOFT DRINK; OR

(4)  TO SELL A SOFT DRINK.

(B)  CHANGING CLEANSING SOLUTIONS.

AS OFTEN AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT THE SOLUTION FROM
BECOMING UNSANITARY, EACH MANUFACTURER SHALL CHANGE ANY
SOLUTION THAT IS USED TO CLEAN CONTAINERS.

(C)  CLEANING CONTAINERS.

(1)  EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS
SUBSECTION, BEFORE PUTTING A SOFT DRINK IN A CONTAINER, A
MANUFACTURER SHALL:

(I)  WASH THE CONTAINER IN WATER CONTAINING
A DETERGENT OR A CLEANSING SOLUTION; AND

(II)  STERILIZE OR CLEAN THE CONTAINER IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THIS SUBSECTION.

(2)  TO STERILIZE A CONTAINER UNDER THIS SECTION,
THE MANUFACTURER SHALL USE:

(I)  BOILING WATER;

(II)  LIVE STEAM;

(III)  A SOLUTION OF SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE;
OR

(IV)  ANY OTHER EFFECTIVE METHOD THAT THE
SECRETARY APPROVES.

(3)  INSTEAD OF STERILIZING A CONTAINER, A
MANUFACTURER, BEFORE PUTTING A SOFT DRINK IN A CONTAINER,
