SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 16
of Chapter 411 of the Acts of 1927, as amended by Chapter
515 of the Acts of 1929 and Chapter 546 of the Acts of 1970
read(s) as follows:

Chapter 546 of the Acts of 1970
SECTION 16. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT IN LIEU OF
EXERCISING THE POWERS OR RESPONSIBILITIES CONFERRED UPON IT
BY SECTION 6 OF CHAPTER 411 OF THE ACTS OF 1927, AS AMENDED
BY SECTION 2 OF CHAPTER 515 OF THE ACTS OF 1929; OR BY
SECTIONS 7, 9, 10 AND 11 OF CHAPTER 411 OF THE ACTS OF 1927,
THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS MAY JOIN IN A LEASE WITH THE MAYOR
AND CITY COUNCIL OF CUMBERLAND, FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONVEYING
OR LEASING ALL OR ANY PART OF THE ASSETS, INTEREST,
LIABILITIES AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE
MEMORIAL HOSPITAL OF CUMBERLAND TO ANY TRANSFEREE NONPROFIT
CORPORATION, WHICH SHALL AGREE TO OPERATE THE MEMORIAL
HOSPITAL OF CUMBERLAND.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is
intended for the purpose of authorizing, confirming and
ratifying the actions taken and to be taken by the Board of
Governors of the Memorial Hospital of Cumberland pursuant to
this Act. Nothing in this Act is intended, and it may not
be construed in any way, to repeal, amend, or enact any part
of the Charter of the City of Cumberland, or of Chapter 1A
of the Public Local Laws of the State of Maryland, in
respect to which the Mayor and City Council of Cumberland is
given authority by Article 11-E of the Constitution and
Article 23A of the Annotated Code of the State of Maryland.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect June 1, 1982.
