Carroll County - Sheriff - Salary

FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the Sheriff of
Carroll County; and specifying that the salary increase
does not affect the incumbent.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
read(s) as follows:

2-309.

(h) (1) The Sheriff of Carroll County shall receive a
salary of [$16,500] $19,000. He may appoint the number of
deputies necessary for the proper execution of the duties of
his office, who shall receive the compensation set by the
County Commissioners.

(2) Any deputy sheriff appointed pursuant to
this section shall be placed on a probationary status for
the first six months of his employment, and may be dismissed
by the Sheriff for any reason. After six months of
continuous employment, a deputy sheriff has tenure, and may
be discharged by the Sheriff only for malfeasance or
