AN ACT concerning

Washington County - At Large Horses

FOR the purpose of prohibiting the owner of a horse in
Washington County from allowing the horse to be at
large; providing a penalty for violating this Act;
providing for the enforcement of this Act; requiring
animal shelters to keep certain horses under certain
circumstances; providing for the redemption of horses;
and generally relating to a prohibition on at large
horses in Washington County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland read(s) as follows:

Article 22 - Washington County

1A. ANIMALS

1A-1.

(A)  "ANIMAL SHELTER" MEANS ANY FACILITY OWNED BY,
OPERATED BY, OR UNDER CONTRACT TO WASHINGTON COUNTY FOR THE
PURPOSE OF CARING FOR ANIMALS.

(B)  "AT LARGE" MEANS OFF THE PREMISES OF THE OWNER AND
NOT UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE OWNER OR A RESPONSIBLE PERSON.

(A) THE OWNER OF A HORSE MAY NOT ALLOW HIS HORSE TO BE
AT LARGE IN WASHINGTON COUNTY.
