(I) (1) $18,000 FOR 1981 AND 1982;

(II) (2) $28,000 FOR 1983;

(III) (3) $29,000 FOR 1984;

(IV) (4) $30,000 FOR 1985; AND

(V) (5) $31,000 FOR 1986 AND EACH YEAR
THEREAFTER.

(2) MAY NOT RECEIVE AN EXPENSE ALLOWANCE; AND

(3) SHALL HAVE THE NUMBER OF DEPUTIES PROVIDED
FOR IN THE PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OF ST. MARY'S COUNTY.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
St. Mary's County Sheriff in office on the effective date of
this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the
salary of the St. Mary's County Sheriff shall take effect at
the beginning of the next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

AN ACT concerning

St. Mary's County - State's Attorney -
Salary and Private Practice

FOR the purpose of altering the salary of the State's
Attorney for St. Mary's County; and providing that he
may not engage in the private practice of law.
