SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:

Article 19 - St. Mary's County

26-3.

[A. Salaries. The President of the County
Commissioners of St. Mary's County shall receive a salary of
fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.) per year and the other
Commissioners shall receive a salary of ten thousand dollars
($10,000.) per year. The Attorney to the County
Commissioners of St. Mary's County shall receive a salary as
determined by the County Commissioners.]

A. (1) THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF
ST. MARY'S COUNTY SHALL RECEIVE AN ANNUAL SALARY OF:

(I)  $15,000 FOR 1981 AND 1982;

(II)  $20,000 FOR 1983;

(III)  $21,000 FOR 1984;

(IV)  $22,000 FOR 1985; AND

(V)  $23,000 FOR 1986 AND THEREAFTER.

(2)  EACH OTHER COMMISSIONER SHALL RECEIVE AN
ANNUAL SALARY OF:

(I)  $10,000 FOR 1981 AND 1982;

(II)  $14,000 FOR 1983;

(III)  $15,000 FOR 1984;

(IV)  $16,000 FOR 1985; AND

(V)  $17,000 FOR 1986 AND THEREAFTER.

(3)  THE ATTORNEY TO THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
SHALL RECEIVE AN ANNUAL SALARY AS DETERMINED BY THE
COMMISSIONERS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the
St. Mary's County Commissioners in office on the effective
date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning
the salary of the St. Mary's County Commissioners shall take
effect at the beginning of the next following term of
office.
