manager.
(B) THE BOARD MAY NOT REQUIRE A PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
AS A LICENSURE RENEWAL REQUIREMENT FOR COSMETOLOGISTS.

(a) The certificates of registration issued in the
year in which this subtitle goes into effect shall expire as
of the year in which the licenses are issued. Thereafter
certificates shall be issued for no longer than one year.
All certificates shall expire on the thirty-first day of
October next succeeding unless renewed for the next year.
However, student licenses shall expire on the 31st day of
August next succeeding unless renewed for the next year.
(b) Certificates may be renewed by application on
renewal forms to be supplied by the Board on request made
prior to the thirty-first day of October of each year and,
prior to the 31st day of August of each year for students,
and the payment of the renewal fees provided in this
subtitle. [The application shall be accompanied by an
affidavit of a practicing physician on a form to be
furnished by the Board, stating that the applicant is free
from any contagious and infectious disease.] Certificates of
renewal issued to apprentices shall be limited to two in
number.
(c) Any holder of a license under the provisions of
this subtitle who has been inactive for a period of five
years or more shall be required to take and pass an
examination prescribed by the Board before a renewal of a
certificate of registration is issued.
(d) Any holder of a license issued for the teaching of
beauty culture under the provisions of this subtitle, shall
be required to attend at least one course, seminar or
program approved by the Board once every two years and such
holder shall be required to submit to the Board a
certificate verifying such attendance before a renewal of a
certificate of registration is issued.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.
