other provisions of the present law, which
provide that the license expires 1 year after its
issuance. Under the revision of this section,
the apparent conflict in the present law is
resolved by stating that a license expires
automatically at the end of the current license
term. This interpretation is consistent with the
provisions of other titles of this article and
conforms with current Board practice.

§ 2-206 of this title.
2-309. REINSTATEMENT OF EXPIRED LICENSES.
(A) EXPIRED FOR 5 YEARS OR LESS.
IF AN AUDIOLOGIST FAILS FOR ANY REASON TO RENEW THE
LICENSE OF THE AUDIOLOGIST BY THE END OF THE 30-DAY GRACE
PERIOD, THE BOARD SHALL REINSTATE THE LICENSE IF THE
AUDIOLOGIST:
(1) APPLIES TO THE BOARD FOR REINSTATEMENT OF
THE LICENSE WITHIN 5 YEARS AFTER THE LICENSE EXPIRES;
(2) MEETS THE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS OF § 2-308 OF
THIS SUBTITLE; AND
(3) PAYS TO THE BOARD THE REINSTATEMENT FEE SET
BY THE BOARD.
(B) EXPIRED FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS.
THE BOARD MAY NOT REINSTATE THE LICENSE OF AN
AUDIOLOGIST WHO FAILS TO APPLY FOR REINSTATEMENT OF THE
LICENSE WITHIN 5 YEARS AFTER THE LICENSE EXPIRES. HOWEVER,
THE AUDIOLOGIST MAY BECOME LICENSED BY MEETING THE CURRENT
REQUIREMENTS FOR OBTAINING A NEW LICENSE UNDER THIS TITLE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the last two
sentences of Art. 43, § 798(a) and from Art. 43,
§ 798(b).
As to subsection (a)(1) of this section, the
present reference to a license that was
"suspended for failure to renew" is deleted as
misleading. See the revisor's note to § 2-308 of
this subtitle.
Subsection (a)(2) of this section is standard
language added to this and, where necessary,
corresponding sections of other titles of this
article. It states expressly a provision that
presently is only implied in the law: i.e., that
an audiologist must comply with the renewal
requirements of this title before the Board may
