BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
The Public Local Laws of St. Mary's County
Section 139-2
Article 19 - Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1979 Edition, supplemented to
December, 1980, as amended)
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as
follows:
Article 19 - St. Mary's County
139-2.
(A) [Said] THE Treasurer shall be furnished an office
in [the courthouse at Leonardtown and at] such [other] place
or places as the County Commissioners may determine. [Said
Treasurer shall keep that office open the same hours as
prescribed by the County Commissioners for other offices in
the courthouse, for the purpose of receiving and disbursing
taxes as directed by law.]
(B) On all taxes after the first day of October
succeeding the day of their levy, due and unpaid, interest
shall be charged at the rate on one-half of one percent (1/2
of 1%) per month.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
