the licensee fails to renew the license, it
"expires" automatically as of the end of the
current license term. Under § 18-401 of this
title, that individual is prohibited from any
further practice of social work.

18-309. INACTIVE STATUS; REINSTATEMENT OF EXPIRED LICENSES.

(A) INACTIVE STATUS.

(1)  THE BOARD SHALL PLACE A LICENSEE ON INACTIVE
STATUS, IF THE LICENSEE SUBMITS TO THE BOARD:

(I)  AN APPLICATION FOR INACTIVE STATUS ON
THE FORM REQUIRED BY THE BOARD; AND

(II)  THE INACTIVE STATUS FEE SET BY THE
BOARD.

(2)  THE BOARD SHALL ISSUE A LICENSE TO AN
INDIVIDUAL WHO IS ON INACTIVE STATUS IF THE INDIVIDUAL
COMPLIES WITH THE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS THAT ARE IN EFFECT
WHEN THE INDIVIDUAL REQUESTS THE REACTIVATION OF THE
LICENSE.

.(B) REINSTATEMENT OF EXPIRED LICENSES.

THE BOARD, IN ACCORDANCE WITH ITS RULES AND
REGULATIONS, MAY REINSTATE THE LICENSE OF A SOCIAL WORKER
WHO:

(1)  HAS NOT PLACED THE LICENSE ON AN INACTIVE
STATUS; AND

(2)  HAS FAILED TO RENEW THE LICENSE FOR ANY
REASON.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the last three
sentences of Art. 43, § 868(d).

As to the power of the Board to adopt rules and
regulations to carry out the provisions of this
title, see § 18-205(1) of this title.

18-310. DENIALS, REPRIMANDS, SUSPENSIONS, AND REVOCATIONS
— GROUNDS AVAILABLE.

SUBJECT TO THE HEARING PROVISIONS OF § 18-311 OF THIS
SUBTITLE, THE BOARD MAY DENY A LICENSE TO ANY APPLICANT,
REPRIMAND ANY LICENSEE, OR SUSPEND OR REVOKE A LICENSE IF
THE APPLICANT OR LICENSEE:

(1) OBTAINED OR ATTEMPTED TO OBTAIN A LICENSE
FOR THE APPLICANT OR LICENSEE OR FOR ANOTHER THROUGH FRAUD,
DECEIT, OR MISREPRESENTATION;
