(E)  EXAMINATION.

EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS TITLE, THE
APPLICANT SHALL PASS AN APPROPRIATE EXAMINATION GIVEN BY THE
BOARD UNDER THIS SUBTITLE.

(F)  EQUIVALENT ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN
APPLICANTS.

(1) IN DETERMINING THE QUALIFICATIONS OF A
LICENSE APPLICANT WHO APPLIED FOR AN ORIGINAL LICENSE BEFORE
DECEMBER 31, 1978, THE BOARD SHALL RECOGNIZE EQUIVALENT
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBSECTIONS (B), (C), AND (D)(1)
OF THIS SECTION. THE EQUIVALENT ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS SHALL
INCLUDE DEGREE PROGRAMS FROM ACCREDITED COLLEGES OR
UNIVERSITIES THAT HAVE:

(I) (1) RELATED ACADEMIC CURRICULA IN
AREAS OTHER THAN SOCIAL WORK, INCLUDING PSYCHOLOGY AND
COUNSELING; AND

(II) (2) AS PART OF THE DEGREE PROGRAM,
FIELD WORK EXPERIENCE IN THE PRACTICE OF SOCIAL WORK IN A
LICENSED SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCY.

(2) THE BOARD SHALL ADOPT RULES AND REGULATIONS
THAT STATE WHICH DECREES FROM ACCREDITED COLLEGES AND
UNIVERSITIES ARE ACCEPTABLE ACADEMIC EQUIVALENTS.

(3) IT IS THE INTENT OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
THAT THE BOARD MAY GRANT LICENSES TO APPLICANTS WHO HAVE NOT
COMPLETED A SOCIAL WORK PROGRAM ACCREDITED BY THE COUNCIL ON
SOCIAL WORK EDUCATION BUT HAVE DECREES IN AREAS OF RELATED
ACADEMIC CURRICULA.

(G)  WAIVER OF SUPERVISION REQUIREMENTS.

IF THE SUPERVISION REQUIRED FOR A CERTIFIED SOCIAL
WORKER LICENSE UNDER SUBSECTION (D)(1) OF THIS SECTION WAS
NOT AVAILABLE TO THE APPLICANT WHILE THE APPLICANT WAS
OBTAINING THE REQUIRED 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, THE BOARD MAY
WAIVE THE SUPERVISION REQUIREMENT ON THE REQUEST OF THE
APPLICANT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 43, §
864(a), (b), (c), and the first two sentences of
(d).

Subsection (e) of this section is rephrased in
standard language to state expressly that if a
license applicant is required to take an
examination under this subtitle, then the
applicant must pass that examination before being
licensed. As to the power of the Board to give
examinations, see § 18-304 of this subtitle.
