(B) PURPOSE OF TITLE.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS TITLE IS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC BY:

(1)  SETTING QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION, TRAINING,
AND EXPERIENCE STANDARDS FOR SOCIAL WORKERS; AND

(2)  PROMOTING HIGH PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS FOR
THE PRACTICE OF SOCIAL WORK.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as Art.
43, § 859(a).

The reference to "health" in subsection (a) of
this section is derived from the similar
statement of intent that appears in the first
phrase of present Art. 43, § 859(b) — which
phrase is deleted as explained in the revisor's
note to § 18-402 of this title.

The only other changes are in style.

18-103. SCOPE OF TITLE.

THIS TITLE DOES NOT LIMIT THE RIGHT OF AN INDIVIDUAL TO
PRACTICE A HEALTH OCCUPATION THAT THE INDIVIDUAL IS
AUTHORIZED TO PRACTICE UNDER THIS ARTICLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 43, §
861(d), as that subsection applies to a "licensed
physician", a "licensed nurse", and a "certified
psychologist". In addition new language that
applies to all other individuals who are
authorized to practice a health occupation under
this article is added to reflect more accurately
the state of the present law and to conform to
the language used in similar provisions in other
titles of this article.

SUBTITLE 2. STATE BOARD OF SOCIAL WORK EXAMINERS.

18-201. BOARD ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS A STATE BOARD OF SOCIAL WORK EXAMINERS IN THE
DEPARTMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as Art.
43, § 862(a)(1).

It is set forth as a separate section for
emphasis.

The only other changes are in style.
