HARRY HUGHES, Governor

627

(F) GRACE PERIOD.

A PODIATRIST HAS A GRACE PERIOD OF 30 DAYS AFTER THE
PODIATRIST'S LICENSE EXPIRES IN WHICH TO RENEW THE LICENSE
RETROACTIVELY, IF THE PODIATRIST:

(1)  OTHERWISE IS ENTITLED TO HAVE THE LICENSE
RENEWED; AND

(2)  PAYS TO THE BOARD THE RENEWAL FEE AND ANY
LATE FEE SET BY THE BOARD.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the last clause
of Art. 43, § 493(a) and from Art. 43, §§
493(b)(1) and 493A.

In subsection (a)   of this section, the language

"for a 1-year term"   is implied from the provision

in present Art. 43,   § 493(a) that renewal fees
are due annually.

Subsection (b) of this section — which provides
for renewal notice — is new language added to
conform to current Board practice and to similar
provisions governing other health occupations in
present Art. 43. See, e.g., Art. 43, § 634(c),
as to psychologists, and Art. 43, § 868(d), as to
social workers.

Subsection (c)(1) of this section is new language
added for clarity.

Subsection (e) of this section is standard
language added to this and, where necessary,
corresponding sections of other titles of this
article to state expressly a provision that
presently is only implied in the law; i.e., that
the Board shall renew the license of any licensee
who has complied with the requirements of this
section.

As to subsection (f) of this section, the first
sentence of present Art. 43, § 493(b)(2) provides
that, if a licensee fails to renew the license by
the end of a 30-day grace period, the Board "may
suspend" the license. That sentence is deleted
as unnecessary and as in conflict with other
provisions of the present law that state that the
license "expires" 1 year after its issuance and
that "after expiration of a license" a 30-day
grace period is allowed for late renewal on
payment of a certain fee. Under the revision of
this section, the apparent conflict in the
present law is resolved by stating that a license
expires automatically at the end of the current
