HARRY HUGHES, Governor

571

(C) NONAPPLICABILITY OF OTHER POSTGRADUATE MEDICAL
REQUIREMENTS.

IF AN INDIVIDUAL MEETS THE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED BY
THIS SECTION AND THE QUALIFICATIONS OTHERWISE REQUIRED BY §
14-305 OF THIS SUBTITLE, A LOCAL HOSPITAL MAY NOT REQUIRE
THAT INDIVIDUAL TO MEET ANY OTHER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
AS A CONDITION TO ANY POSTGRADUATE MEDICAL TRAINING AT THAT
HOSPITAL.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 43, § 123A.

In subsection (a)(1) of this section, the phrase
"that has standards for graduation equivalent to
those approved by the American Medical
Association" is substituted for the present
language "which is recognized by the World Health
Organization" in light of current practice.

In subsection (b) of this section, the
introductory clause is added to clarify that
while this section is an alternative to the
degree requirements of § 14-305(d) of this
subtitle, this section is not an exemption from
the other licensing qualifications.

Subsection (b)(6) of this section is new language
added to cover all other qualifications of this
title rather than the more limited and partially
inaccurate list of qualifications in present Art.
43, § 123A(a)(4) and (5).

In subsections (b) and (c) of this section, the
more modern terminology "postgraduate medical
education" is substituted for references to
"internship" and "residency".

14-307. APPLICATIONS FOR LICENSES.

TO APPLY FOR A LICENSE, AN APPLICANT SHALL:

(1)  SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE BOARD ON THE
FORM THAT THE BOARD REQUIRES; AND

(2)  PAY TO THE BOARD THE APPLICATION FEE SET BY
THE BOARD.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Item (1) of this section is standard
language added to this and, where necessary,
corresponding sections of other titles of this
article. It states expressly a provision that
presently is only implied in the law: i.e., that
applications may be made only on the form
required by the Board.
