REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 43, §§
119(g)(2) and (6) and 136A.

Subsection (a)(1) of this section is rephrased in
the standard language used to reflect more
accurately the state of the present law and to
conform to the language used in similar
provisions in other titles of this article.

In subsection (b) of this section, the term
"licensed dentist" is substituted for "dental
surgeon" and the phrase "or any other individual
authorized to practice dentistry under Title 4 of
this article" is added to conform to the
provisions of Title 4, "Dentistry" of this
article.

SUBTITLE 2. STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS.

14-201. BOARD ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS A STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL EXAMINERS IN THE
DEPARTMENT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the first
sentence of Art. 43, § 120.

It is set forth as a separate section for
emphasis.

The reference to the "State Board of Medical
Examiners" is substituted for the reference to
"Board of Medical Examiners of the State of
Maryland". This change is made to achieve
uniformity among the names of the health
occupation boards that this article governs.

14-202. MEMBERSHIP.

(A) COMPOSITION.

(1)  THE BOARD CONSISTS OF 10 MEMBERS.

(2)  OF THE BOARD MEMBERS:

(I)  8 SHALL BE LICENSED PHYSICIANS WHO
PRACTICE MEDICINE IN THIS STATE; AND

(II)  2 SHALL BE CONSUMER MEMBERS.

(3) THE MEDICAL AND CHIRURGICAL FACULTY SHALL
ELECT THE PHYSICIAN MEMBERS.
