HARRY HUGHES, Governor

553

"LICENSE" MEANS, UNLESS THE CONTEXT REQUIRES OTHERWISE,
A LICENSE ISSUED BY THE BOARD TO PRACTICE MEDICINE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to avoid unnecessary repetition in this title of
phrases such as "license to practice medicine".

(G) LICENSED PHYSICIAN.

"LICENSED PHYSICIAN" MEANS, UNLESS THE CONTEXT REQUIRES
OTHERWISE, A PHYSICIAN, INCLUDING A DOCTOR OF OSTEOPATHY,
WHO IS LICENSED BY THE BOARD TO PRACTICE MEDICINE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to provide a standard meaning of the term
"licensed physician". It has been patterned
after the similar definition in Art. 43, § 119(e)
of the Code.

On occasion, the term "licensee" is used in this
title as a synonym for "licensed physician".
Since "license" is defined in subsection (f) of
this section, "licensee" need not be defined
separately.

(H) PHYSICIAN.

"PHYSICIAN" MEANS AN INDIVIDUAL WHO PRACTICES MEDICINE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to provide an express definition of "physician";
it is stated in the standard form used to define
the various health practitioners regulated under
this article.

This definition, for purposes of this title,
supersedes the somewhat more limited definition
of "physician" in § 1-101 of this article.

For the use of the definition of "physician"
patterned after Art. 43, § 119(e) of the Code,
see the revisor's note to subsection (g) of this
section.

(I) PRACTICE MEDICINE.

(1) "PRACTICE MEDICINE" MEANS TO ENGAGE, WITH OR
WITHOUT COMPENSATION, IN MEDICAL:

(I)  DIAGNOSIS;

(II)  HEALING;

(III)  TREATMENT; OR

(IV) SURGERY.
