"PRACTICE OSTEOPATHY" MEANS TO TREAT A DISEASE OR
AILMENT OF THE HUMAN BODY BY MANIPULATION.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived
in part from the reference to "manipulation only"
in the second sentence of Art. 43, § 477 and the
part of the second clause of § 479 that refers to
treating diseases of the human body.
The definition is stated in the infinitive form
to permit minor verb variations of the defined
phrase, without taking these variations out of
the scope of the definition.
The first sentence of present Art. 43, § 477 now
appears as § 11-102 of this subtitle.
The balance of the second clause of present Art.
43, § 479 now appears in § 11-402 of this title.
REVISOR'S NOTE TO SECTION: Present Art. 43, § 467(b),
which defines "financial interest" and "household
member", is deleted as unnecessary in light of
the definitions of "household member" and
"substantial financial interest" in § 1-101 of
this article.
11-102. LEGISLATIVE POLICY.
OSTEOPATHY IS A COMPLETE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE THAT PLACES
SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE MUSCULOSKELETAL
SYSTEM IN HEALTH AND DISEASE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section presently appears as the
first sentence of Art. 43, § 477.
The only changes are in style.
11-103. SCOPE OF TITLE.
THIS TITLE DOES NOT LIMIT THE RIGHT OF AN INDIVIDUAL TO
PRACTICE A HEALTH OCCUPATION THAT THE INDIVIDUAL IS
AUTHORIZED TO PRACTICE UNDER THIS ARTICLE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived in
part from the references to chiropractic
graduates and the practice of medicine in Art.
43, § 479. New language is added to reflect more
accurately the state of the present law and to
conform to the language used in similar
provisions in other titles of this article.
The specific references to exemptions for
chiropractic graduates and "the so-called
practice of medicine" in present Art. 43, § 479
are deleted as unnecessary in light of the broad
