AN ORDINANCE to continue the solar energy tax credit
for using solar energy heating or cooling units, and matters
generally related thereto.

WHEREAS, the County Council of Anne Arundel County,
Maryland, in Bill 108-79 which passed on October 15, 1979,
provided a solar energy tax credit for using solar energy
heating or cooling units; and

WHEREAS, it would be in the best interest of the
citizens of Anne Arundel County to extend the life of this
tax credit for an additional year; and

WHEREAS, the life of the solar energy tax credit in
Bill 108-79 was one year and the County Council finds it
desirable to extend the tax credit for another one year
period;

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to repeal and reenact, with
amendments, Sections 12-1336 and 12-1337 of the Anne Arundel
County Code (1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 12,
"Licenses, Permits and Franchises", Subtitle 13, "Taxicabs",
to change taxicab rates effective in Anne Arundel County, fee
authorize certain temporary rate increases, after notice and
public hearing, related to increases, after notice and
licensees, providing when such increases shall take effect,
and for how long such increases shall be effective, and
providing that such rates shall become permanent upon
approval by resolution of the County Council, and providing
that this ordinance is an emergency measure.

WHEREAS, Rapid and substantial recent increases in fuel
costs have imposed economic hardship on licensed taxicab
licensees and operators;

WHEREAS, It is expected that fuel costs to taxicab
licensees and operators shall continue to substantially and
rapidly increase; and

WHEREAS, It is the purpose of this ordinance to provide
and maintain efficient licensed taxicab service for the
citizens of and visitors to Anne Arundel County;
