MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Council of University
Park is now and has been a duly incorporated municipality
pursuant to Chapter 32, Laws of Maryland Special Session of
1936, and

WHEREAS, the Mayor and Common Council of University
Park, pursuant to Article 23A, Section 13, Annotated Code of
Maryland, desire to ratify the Charter of University Park
and to adopt and enact as positive law and conclusive
evidence of the Charter all provisions of the Charter
adopted prior to April 21, 1980, to eliminate and delete
extraneous and obsolete provisions, and to provide for the
exercise of all authority accorded the Mayor and Common
Council pursuant to the Constitution of Maryland and the
current laws of the State, and

WHEREAS, the Charter shall consist of the following
articles:

Article I—General Corporate Powers

Article II—Corporate Limits

Article III—Mayor and Common Council

Article IV—Powers of Mayor and Common Council

Article V—Registration, Nominations and Elections

Article VI—Finance

Article VII—Administration

Article VIII—Public Ways and Sidewalks

[Section(s) 81-1 through 81-25 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Prince George's County, repealed and Sections
101 through 806 of the Charter of the Town of University
Park added.

LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION NO. 9-80

Resolution of the Town of University Park, Maryland,
adopted pursuant to the authority of Article XI-E of the
Constitution of Maryland and Sections 12 and 13 of Article
23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1973 Replacement
Volume, as amended), to appeal and reenact Article IV,
"Powers of Mayor and Common Council", Section 402(b)(xxxxv),
sub-titled "Property", of the Charter of the Town of
University Park, to authorize the Mayor and Common Council
