VETOES

FOR the purpose of increasing the expense allowance for
orphans' court judges in Anne Arundel County.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Estates and Trusts
Section 2-108(c)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1974 Volume and 1980 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article - Estates and Trusts

2-108.

(c) Each of the judges of the court for Anne Arundel
County shall receive an annual compensation of $3,000. The
Chief Judge shall receive an additional $500 annually. Each
judge shall also receive an expense allowance up to [$100]
$150 per month for personal expenses incidental to his
duties, to be paid by the comptroller of Anne Arundel County
each month upon presentation of an itemized voucher in
accordance with rules and regulations prescribed by the
comptroller.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 1324.

This bill increases the expense allowance for orphans'
court judges in Anne Arundel County.

Senate Bill 548, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on April 28, 1981, accomplishes
the same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign House Bill
1324.
