OF AN ESCAPEE SHALL BE DELIVERED, IS AUTHORIZED AND REQUIRED
TO EXECUTE SUCH WARRANT IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DIRECTIONS
CONTAINED THEREIN. A SHERIFF OR POLICE OFFICER MAKING AN
ARREST UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL PROMPTLY NOTIFY THE DIVISION
OF CORRECTION OF THE ARREST.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, today I have vetoed Senate Bill 1064.

This bill allows the warden or superintendent of each
correctional institution or his designee to issue retake
warrants for the apprehension and return of escapees.

House Bill 1856, which was enacted by the General
Assembly and signed by me on May 19, 1981, accomplishes the
same purpose.

Therefore it is unnecessary for me to sign Senate Bill
1064.

AN ACT concerning

Maryland Insurance Acquisitions Disclosure and Control Act

FOR the purpose of altering the definition of "control" in
the Maryland Insurance Acquisitions Disclosure and
Control Act; requiring that an effectuation or
attempted effectuation of an acquisition by a domestic
insurer or insurance holding company must be actual or
presumed; clarifying language; and making this Act an
emergency measure.
