AN ACT concerning

Prison Escapees - Retake Warrants

FOR the purpose of permitting certain individuals to issue
retake warrants for the apprehension of escapees and
the return of the escapees. retake warrants for the
apprehension and return of escapees from certain
institutions; providing that the office of the State's
Attorney be notified; and providing for the execution
of retake warrants by certain persons.

BY adding to

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

Section 682(d) 594E 682(d)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1976 Replacement Volume and 1980 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

682 594E 682.

(D) (A) (D) THE WARDEN OR SUPERINTENDENT OF EACH AN
EACH INSTITUTION WITHIN THE DIVISION OF CORRECTION, OR A
DESIGNEE OF THE WARDEN OR SUPERINTENDENT MAY ISSUE RETAKE
WARRANTS FOR THE APPREHENSION AND RETURN OF ESCAPEES.

(1) A COPY OF THE RETAKE WARRANT SHALL BE
FORWARDED TO THE OFFICE OF THE STATE'S ATTORNEY IN THE
COUNTY FROM WHICH THE ESCAPE WAS MADE.

(B) (2) ANY SHERIFF OR POLICE OFFICER AUTHORIZED TO
SERVE CRIMINAL PROCESS, TO WHOM A WARRANT FOR THE RETAKING
