WHEREAS, The continuing victimization of Atlanta's
young belies the equitable and just distribution of these
freedoms and has turned Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s
remarkable dream into an unbearable nightmare; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
Administration and the Department of Justice are United
States Government is urged to provide every assistance in
ending the tragedy in Atlanta and bringing the guilty to
justice; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a green ribbon should be recognized as
the symbolic expression of our nation's sympathy and concern
for those afflicted by these tragedies; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to
President Ronald Reagan, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania
Avenue, Washington, D.C. 20500; Attorney General William
French Smith, Department of Justice, Washington, D.C. 20530;
and to Mayor Maynard Jackson, City Hall, Atlanta, Georgia
30303; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be sent to the
Maryland Congressional Delegation: Senators Charles McC.
Mathias, Jr. and Paul S. Sarbanes, Senate Office Building,
Washington, D.C. 20510; and Representatives Royden P. Dyson,

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning
Annual Maryland Energy Report
FOR the purpose of requesting that the Maryland Energy
Administration make a report on or before a certain
date each year to the General Assembly of Maryland
concerning the overall status of energy conservation
programs and resources.
WHEREAS, The cost of energy in Maryland and in the
United States is expected to rise rapidly; and
WHEREAS, We are still faced with an energy crisis; and
