Atlanta, Georgia for their grievous losses; now, therefore,
be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
citizens of the State of Maryland and indeed the nation are
urged to continue their prayers, public indignation, and
monetary assistance until this American nightmare is ended;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That the State of Maryland urges that all
appropriate federal, State, and municipal law enforcement
authorities continue to unite and cooperate in a tireless
effort to apprehend the person or persons responsible for
these atrocities and to bring them to justice; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Joint Resolution be sent
to the Honorable Maynard Jackson, Mayor, City Hall, Atlanta,
Georgia.

(Senate Joint Resolution No. 70)

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

Truck Safety

FOR the purpose of requesting the Maryland Department of
Transportation and the Maryland State Police to study
truck safety.

WHEREAS, Truck operations safety problems have become
more evident along Maryland streets and highways; and

WHEREAS, A number of accidents and incidents involving
truck movements have occurred resulting in significant
property damage and loss of human lives; and

WHEREAS, The specific reasons or causes for the truck
accidents and incidents are not readily at hand; and

WHEREAS, It would appear to be in the interest of the
State to determine more specific information pertaining to
truck accidents and incidents along the State's road system;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, That the Maryland
Department of Transportation and the Maryland State Police,
in cooperation with the trucking industry, are directed to
undertake needed review and research to determine the
specific nature, extent, and causes for traffic operational
