RESOLVED, That the task force study the benefits and
problems of offering tax deferred annuities for purchase by
eligible employees, as well as the administrative
capabilities of the State or other administrative body to
provide an additional means of deferring compensation for
eligible employees; and be it further"

RESOLVED, That the task force report its findings and
recommendations to the Governor; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be sent to the
Honorable Harry Hughes, Governor of Maryland, State House;
the Honorable Louis L. Goldstein, Comptroller of the
Treasury, State Treasury Building, Annapolis, Maryland
21404; Commissioner of Higher Education, Sheldon Knorr, 16
Francis Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21404; State
Superintendent of Education, David W. Hornbeck, 200 West
Baltimore Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201; and Secretary
Thomas W. Schmidt, Department of Budget and Fiscal Planning,
State Treasury Building, Annapolis, Maryland 21404.

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

Policy Statement - Resource Recovery

FOR the purpose of declaring that it is the policy of this
State that whenever possible solid waste shall be
managed so as to maximize recovery of materials and
production of energy.

WHEREAS, It is desirable to reduce the burden placed on
land resources by reducing the need for landfilling; and

WHEREAS, It is desirable to reduce energy consumptions
and reliance on imported fuels; and

WHEREAS, Conservation and recovery of materials and
energy are in the national interest; and

WHEREAS, Resource recovery accomplishes these goals;
and

WHEREAS, Resource recovery is now economically feasible
and markets are available; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That this
body declares it to be the policy of this State that
