be an at-large member, and one member shall be a person who
is currently the chairman of the Maryland Veterans' Home
Commission. The American Legion, the Disabled American
Veterans, the Catholic War Veterans, the Amvets, THE

MARYLAND RETIRED OFFICERS ASSOCIATION, the Jewish War

Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, THE MARINE CORPS
LEAGUE, THE POLISH AMERICAN WAR VETERANS, THE FLEET RESERVE
ASSOCIATION, THE ORDER OF THE PURPLE HEART, THE AMERICAN
EX-PRISONERS OF WAR, INC., and the veterans of World War I
shall each have one member on the Commission, to be
appointed as of July 1, [1980] 1981. 1980. THE MARYLAND
RETIRED OFFICERS ASSOCIATION, THE MARINE CORPS LEAGUE, THE
POLISH-AMERICAN WAR VETERANS, THE FLEET RESERVE ASSOCIATION,
THE ORDER OF THE PURPLE HEART, AND THE AMERICAN EX-PRISONERS
OF WAR, INC. SHALL EACH HAVE ONE MEMBER ON THE COMMISSION,
TO BE APPOINTED AS OF JULY 1, 1981. Members shall be
eligible for reappointment to the Commission. All persons
who are members of the Commission as of June 30, 1979, shall
continue to serve as members until the expiration of the
terms to which they were appointed. All appointments to the
Commission shall be for seven-year terms.

[(e) There shall be a committee, to be known as the
advisory Maryland veterans committee, composed of the
current department commanders, respectively, of the Marine
Corps League, the Polish-American War Veterans, the
president of the Maryland Retired Officers Association and
the designee of the Fleet Reserve Association as determined
by its board of directors of Branch 6, the designee of the
Order of the Purple Heart, and the designee of the Maryland
chapter of the American Ex-Prisoners of War, Inc. The
members of the committee serve without pay and the committee
shall advise and work with the Maryland Veterans Commission
in the duties imposed upon them by this subtitle, but may
not be members of the Commission.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.
