Ch. 667

[(i)] (H) (K)(J) An approved automatic fire sprinkler
system may be installed in lieu of a smoke detection system
when approved by the Fire Prevention Commission. This option
shall not nullify any other requirements of the code nor be
construed as exempting any occupancy from such requirements
where clearly applicable under the text of the code.

[(J)] (I) (L)(K) Notwithstanding any other provisions
of this article, the provisions of this section shall apply
in Baltimore City. In the city, the city fire department
shall enforce these provisions and any appeals concerning
these provisions shall be made to the city fire board.

(L) THESE PROVISIONS SHALL HAVE NO EFFECT UPON THE
EXISTING PUBLIC LOCAL LAWS OR REGULATIONS WHICH REQUIRE
SMOKE DETECTORS IN OCCUPANCIES WITH LESS THAN TEN DWELLING
UNITS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
effective date of adoption referred to in Article 38A, § 12A
(3) of the Annotated Code is July 1, 1975.

SECTION 2 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this
Act shall take effect July 1, 1981.

(House Bill 1079)

AN ACT concerning

State Program for Study on Women, Infants, and Young Children

FOR the purpose of establishing a State program for study on
educating and providing pregnant women, infants, and
young children which would provide with supplemental
foods and nutrition education; authorizing the
Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to promulgate
rules and regulations consistent with a certain federal
program; providing for a funding level; and requiring
the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to submit a
report, setting out certain procedures and guidelines
for a program, to the General Assembly no later than a
certain time.
