LAWS OF MARYLAND

Ch.8

On occasion, the term "licensee" is used in this
title as a synonym for "licensed apprentice".
Since "license" is defined in subsection (f) of
this section, "licensee" need not be defined
separately.

The attention of the General Assembly is called
to the fact that the present law uses both
"registered" and "licensed" to refer to
apprentices. In practice, an apprentice does
receive a certificate, and an unlicensed employee
may not perform the duties of an apprentice.
Therefore, the Commission to Revise the Annotated
Code has drafted this title to reflect the
licensing process rather than a mere
registration.

As to the scope of an apprentice license, see §
6-306(c) of this title.

(H) LICENSED FUNERAL DIRECTOR.

"LICENSED FUNERAL DIRECTOR" MEANS, UNLESS- THE CONTEXT
REQUIRES OTHERWISE, A FUNERAL DIRECTOR WHO IS LICENSED BY
THE BOARD TO PRACTICE FUNERAL DIRECTION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 43, §
362(a)(2).

On occasion the term "licensee" is used in this
title as a synonym for "licensed funeral
director". Since license is defined in
subsection (f) of this section, "licensee" need
not be defined separately.

Present Art. 43, § 362(a)(1) is deleted as
unnecessary in light of § 6-101(a) of this title.

As to the legislative history of the separate

funeral director license, see the revisor's note

to § 6-101(k) of this section and the General
Revisor's Note to this title.

(I) LICENSED FUNERAL ESTABLISHMENT.

"LICENSED FUNERAL ESTABLISHMENT" MEANS, UNLESS THE
CONTEXT REQUIRES OTHERWISE, A FUNERAL ESTABLISHMENT THAT IS
LICENSED BY THE BOARD.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language added
to avoid needless repetition of phrases such as
"funeral establishment licensed by the Board".

On occasion, the term "licensee" is used in this
title as a synonym for "licensed funeral
