COUNTY TREASURER RECEIVES. ANY UNEXPENDED BALANCE OF

COMPENSATION RECEIVED SHALL BE REMITTED TO THE GENERAL FUNDS
OF THE COUNTY.

(f) (1) In Allegany County, the tax collector for the
first tax collection district of Allegany County is
authorized to act as agent of the Administration in the
registration of vehicles, as provided in this section.
However, all [additional fees] COMPENSATION he collects
under this section shall be paid to the county government of
Allegany County and placed in a general fund of the county.

(2)  In Caroline County, all [additional
fees] COMPENSATION the County Treasurer collects under
this section shall be paid to the county government of
Caroline County and placed in a general fund of the county,
to be used as necessary for the extra expense of registering
these vehicles or as the county government otherwise
directs.

(3)  In Charles and Prince George's counties, all
[additional fees] COMPENSATION the county treasurer
collects under this section shall be placed in a general
fund of the county, to be disbursed by the county treasurer
from the fund as he considers necessary to cover the expense
of the sale of registration plates, with the balance to be
used for general fund purposes.

(4)  In Charles and Prince George's counties, all
additional fees the county treasurer collects under this
section shall be placed in a general fund of the county, to
be disbursed by the county treasurer from the fund as he
considers necessary to cover the expense of the sale of
registration plates, with the balance to be used for general
fund purposes.

(g) [(l) Each county treasurer may collect an
additional fee of 10 cents for each vehicle he registers, if
the additional fee is authorized by the county government.
All fees collected under this paragraph shall be remitted to
the general funds of the county.

(2)] The County Treasurer of Harford County
may collect [an additional] A fee of $1 for each vehicle
he registers, which shall be remitted to the county for use
as a special highway and road improvement fund.

(3) THE COUNTY TREASURER OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY
MAY COLLECT A FEE OF UP TO $1 FOR EACH VEHICLE HE REGISTERS,
WHICH SHALL BE PLACED IN THE GENERAL FUND OF THE COUNTY, TO
BE DISBURSED BY THE COUNTY TREASURER AS HE CONSIDERS
NECESSARY TO COVER THE EXPENSE OF THE SALE OF REGISTRATION
PLATES, WITH THE BALANCE TO BE USED FOR GENERAL FUND
PURPOSES.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.
