Ch. 408

Division shall designate which 68 positions shall be

transferred. The positions shall be transferred subject to

the provisions of Section 4 of Chapter 526 of the Laws   of

1980, but without regard to the exception contained in
subsection (a) thereof.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
inclusion of the Pre-Trial Release Services Division in the
Merit System for the Clerk of the Circuit Court for
Baltimore City on January 1, 1983, shall have the effect of
transferring to the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court
for Baltimore City, the functions, powers, duties,
equipment, assets, liabilities and employees designated by
the Director of the Pre-Trial Release Services Division to
the Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Baltimore
City, and after January 1, 1983, the Pre-Trial Release
Services Division shall be funded in the same manner as the
Office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the
provisions of the Act are subject to the taking of effect of
Chapter 526 of 1980 which effective date occurs on January
1, 1983, and the substantive provisions of this Act are not
effective until that time.

SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, subject to
the provisions of Section 4, this Act shall take effect on
July 1, 1981.

AN ACT concerning

Burning of Religious Symbols - Subsequent Convictions

FOR the purpose of providing that a person previously
convicted of burning or causing to be burned any cross
or other religious symbol, in certain circumstances,
upon a subsequent conviction, is subject to certain
additional criminal penalties.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
