until his successor is appointed and qualifies.

(2)  On recommendation of the Secretary, the
Governor may appoint an alternate member to serve in the
absence of the regular member appointed under this
subsection from the Department.

(3)  THE TWO MEMBERS APPOINTED FROM THE GENERAL
PUBLIC SHALL BE REIMBURSED FOR EXPENSES INCURRED IN THE
PERFORMANCE OF THEIR DUTIES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARD
TRAVEL REGULATIONS AND SHALL BE PAID SUCH PER DIEM
COMPENSATION FOR THEIR SERVICES AS MAY BE PROVIDED FOR IN
THE BUDGET.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

AN ACT concerning

Pensions - State Police - Creditable Service

FOR the purpose of providing that service credit shall be
given to members of the State System who on
a certain date had previous membership in the Maryland
State Police Pension Fund. given to any person in State
service on a certain date who had previous State
service with membership in the Maryland State Police
Pension Fund.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
