AN ACT concerning

Unemployment Insurance - Military Reservists

FOR the purpose of providing that certain military
reservists may be paid unemployment insurance benefits
and may not be considered unavailable for work while
participating in the required activities of certain
reserve components and are otherwise unemployed; and
making this Act an emergency measure.

Article 95A - Unemployment Insurance Law

Section 4(i)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1979 Replacement Volume and 1980 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

Article 95A - Unemployment Insurance Law

4.

Any unemployed individual is eligible to receive
benefits with respect to any week only if the Executive
Director finds that:

(I)(1) AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS A MEMBER OF THE MARYLAND
NATIONAL GUARD OR OTHER RESERVE COMPONENT OF THE UNITED

STATES ARMED FORCES AND PARTICIPATES IN THE REQUIRED

ACTIVITIES MAY BE PAID BENEFITS IF THE INDIVIDUAL IS
OTHERWISE UNEMPLOYED.

(2) AN INDIVIDUAL MAY NOT BE CONSIDERED

UNAVAILABLE FOR WORK BY REASON OF THE REQUIRED ACTIVITIES AS
A MEMBER OF THE MARYLAND NATIONAL GUARD OR OTHER RESERVE
COMPONENT OF THE UNITED STATES ARMED FORCES.
