(2) COMPLIES WITH ANY APPLICABLE RULE OR
REGULATION ADOPTED UNDER THIS TITLE FOR THIS PURPOSE.

(C) LIMITED CERTIFICATION.

THE BOARD MAY ISSUE A LIMITED CERTIFICATION TO ANY
UNCERTIFIED OPERATOR OR INDUSTRIAL OPERATOR WHO:

(1)  ON OR BEFORE JULY 1, 1982, SUBMITS AN
APPLICATION TO THE BOARD ON THE FORM THAT THE BOARD
REQUIRES;

(2)  IS EMPLOYED IN A WATERWORKS, WASTEWATER
WORKS, OR INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER WORKS; AND

(3)  COMPLIES WITH ANY APPLICABLE RULE OR
REGULATION ADOPTED UNDER THIS TITLE FOR THIS PURPOSE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from Art. 43, §
406A(f)(6), (7), and (8) and the last clause of
(h).

Subsection (b)(2) of this section is new language
added for clarity and to conform to the current
practice of the Board.

References to meeting the requirements "of any
applicable rule or regulation adopted under this
title" are added to clarify that rules and
regulations govern the issuance of
certifications. See, e.g., COMAR § 10.17.06.

In subsection (b) of this section, the present
term "interim" as an alternative title for a
"temporary" certification is deleted as
unnecessary.

20-306. SCOPE OF CERTIFICATION.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION,
CERTIFICATION AUTHORIZES A WATERWORKS, WASTEWATER WORKS, OR
INDUSTRIAL WASTEWATER WORKS TO EMPLOY THE CERTIFIED
INDIVIDUAL AS AN OPERATOR, INDUSTRIAL OPERATOR, OR
SUPERINTENDENT IN AN APPROPRIATE JOB CLASSIFICATION.

(B)  CERTIFIED OPERATOR.

CERTIFICATION AS AN OPERATOR AUTHORIZES THE OPERATOR TO
PERFORM TASKS ASSIGNED BY A CERTIFIED SUPERINTENDENT, IF AN
OPERATOR IS NOT PROHIBITED FROM PERFORMING THOSE TASKS BY
THE RULES AND REGULATIONS ADOPTED UNDER THIS TITLE.

(C) RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE SECRETARY.
