AN ACT concerning

Unemployment Insurance - Extended Benefits

FOR the purpose of limiting the payment of extended benefits
under certain circumstances when a claimant files
interstate claims; restricting, under certain
circumstances, eligibility for extended benefits if an
individual has been subject to certain
disqualifications for regular benefits; providing
certain disqualifications for extended benefits if an
individual fails to actively engage in seeking work, to
accept an offer of suitable work, or to apply for
suitable work; and requiring, with certain exceptions,
that an individual applying for extended benefits be
referred to suitable work; clarifying the effect of
provisions relating to regular benefits on claims for,
and the payment of, extended benefits; generally
relating to extended benefits; and making this Act an
emergency measure.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That section(s) of the Annotated Code of Maryland
be repealed, amended, or enacted to read as follows:

(b) Except when the result would be inconsistent with
the other provisions of this section OR WITH THE
FEDERAL-STATE EXTENDED UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION ACT OF
1970, AS AMENDED, [as provided by the regulations of the
Executive Director,] the provisions of this act which apply
