SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1981.

AN ACT concerning

Hall of Records Commission - Archives of Maryland -
Publications Fund

FOR the purpose of permitting the Hall of Records Commission
to accept the transfer of the inventory and funds of
the Archives of Maryland; requiring the State
Comptroller to maintain the transferred funds for
certain purposes; generally relating to the transfer of
the inventory and funds of the Archives of Maryland to
the Hall of Records Commission; and making this Act an
emergency measure.

Preamble

WHEREAS, Chapter 138 of the Acts of the General
Assembly of Maryland of 1882, empowered the Maryland
Historical Society to publish the archives and ancient
documents of the province and State; and

WHEREAS, Until as recently as 1961, appropriations have
been made to implement the provisions of the Act, not
withstanding the enactment of Chapter 18 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland of 1935, that transferred the
responsibility for having such documents, records, and
material properly repaired, filed, indexed, preserved and,
when deemed desirable, copied or edited and published, to
the Hall of Records, and that specifically provided that all
laws or parts of laws inconsistent with the provisions of
Chapter 18 of the Acts of 1935 were repealed to the extent
of the inconsistency; and
